Document Summary

Diversity refers to the variation in the important human characteristics that distinguish people from one another. Workforce diversity is the diversity among employees in a given company. More women are working than ever before. Undocumented immigrant workers are non-citizens working without the legally required documents. The workforce will continue to get older. Women enter the workforce for many of the same reasons that men do. Pay gap is how women and persons of color on average receive lower pay than white men do. Occupational segregation is when the inequitable concentration of a group, such as minorities or women, continues to have an increasing pay gap. Glass ceiling is an invisible barrier blocking women and minorities from higher positions that white men normally get. Glass walls is where there are fewer opportunities to move side-ways into jobs that lead to the top (for women and minorities) Equal employment opportunity is equal treatment promoted among employees in a company.
