Hindenburg was elected to represent the weimar parties and beat hitler by a narrow margin. He was a conservative and had no following in the german electors. He was schleicher"s puppet, but couldn"t get a majority in parliament. Combined the nazis and communists would have had a majority. Nazis lost support because people began sympathizing with the communists. Papen still could not win the majority. He offered hitler the spot of vice chancellor, hitler refused, he wanted all or nothing. Schleicher then runs for the chancellorship, but again he could not get the majority, he had hindenburg dissolved parliament. Hitler would be chancellor and papen vice chancellor.
