A coup is when the military overthrows the government. The military rule is often called a junta. Military says it is staging the coup for the good of the nation . Coups are often described as bloody or bloodless . +these dictators often remain entrenched in power for decades. Recently there was a poorly planned coup in turkey which let to erdogan identifying his enemies. Authoritarian: a form of government favoring strict control/obedience to authority over personal freedoms. Power usually concentrated with a leader or small ruling party. Purpose of the military depends on the country. Developing countries: imprecise term, often refers to any country outside the united states and. Global south (developing countries are in the southern hemisphere) The third world (this term has lost a lot of accuracy since the end of the cold war and really shouldn"t be used) Places with abundant natural resources tend to have less economic growth and development than countries with fewer resources.
