Intentional injuries: outcome of self directed or interpersonal violence, assaults, rapes, suicides, homicides, can be perpetrated against family members, community members, or complete strangers. Homicide: 2nd leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds, most are committed with firearms, homicide victimization rate for blacks significantly higher than whites, lower income associated with higher rate of being a victim of violence. Assault, rape, and property crimes: victimization rate higher for males except for rape and sexual assault, less than half of all violent crimes committed are reported to police. Poor conflict resolution abilities: family violence and abuse. Child maltreatment abuse and or neglect. Child maltreatment: maltreated and abused children are more likely to commit crimes as they grow up, timely reporting to child protective service agencies can help protect children. Intimate partner violence: rape, physical assault or stalking by current or former dates, spouses, or domestic partners, experiences by 1 in 4 women and 1 in 14 men.
