Samplers also came out in the 1980s which were dedicated machines that could take a sample of a sound and use it again. +jazz tended to use hollow-body guitars while rock tended to use solid-body guitars. +solid-body guitars also had different shapes and sizes. Distortion and effects started to be experimented with in jazz. +this was an old thing in rock but a new thing in jazz. Comping started to be used which was playing the same chord over and over while someone else improvised around it. The drum set goes from being about four drums to massive set ups. Backbeat started to be used in jazz when rock and roll starts to influence. Increased danceability was another rock influence on jazz.
