Tired to use iraqification to solidify iraq but this didn"t work because an antipathy between. Also thought about using surge which was counterinsurgency. Bush decided the surge was the better option. The united states turned to the sons of iraq which were mainly former sunni military serviceman. +originally attacked the united state forces and shiites but then decided to try to become a militias that worked with the united states. Military operations involving the sons of iraq weren"t very effective.
