What does art convey: ideas about meaning, builds skill, expresses certain problems in society, conveys emotion and beauty, it is a portrayal of reality. Aesthetics are what we see. when we say something has aesthetic value, we mean what we deem is beautiful. In women, society views beauty as skinny, big boobs, tan, long legs, clear skin. In 1500s italy, society considered the ideal women to be bigger, pale, wealthy. Aesthetics depend on culture, generation, personal experience, what the dominant culture looks like, our surroundings and circumstances. The distinction as we frame it in this class, when we talk about art we are usually talking about the fine arts; but that does not negate that something can be artful. Formula: a performs b for c in x. The actor performs a drama or play for an audience in the designated space. We are performing a cultural script as a student.
