Form of art that combines all the fine arts: dance, music, and visual art. Has lots of emotions, made up of 6 elements. Anything can be a drama if it has emotion in it. Spectacle: heightened reality, skewed but relatable. Music: vocal or instrumental, creates moods and expectations. Character: protagonist- we want them to succeed, antagonist- working against protagonist. Idea behind the story/event: the (cid:862)why(cid:863, provides cultural importance to society. Diction: vocal transmission of words to audience. Every group of people has had theatre. Oral tradition: telling stories verbally to teach morals and history, different ways to tell a story. Hunter-gatherer ritual: talking about spirits, make up stories to explain nature. Community historian: comes from oral tradition, write down everything that happens. Is responsible for passing down history: re-enacts history, makes re-telling interesting by embellishing, enlists people to act out while they narrate.
