Exclusion: policies that refuse admission or citizenship to certain categories of ppl (ex: blacks can"t vote) Oppression: policies that exploit a minority by excluding them from = participation in society (ex: slavery) Segregation: the formal separation of different categories of ppl. Assimilation: occurs when a minority group is absorbed into dom culture. Structural assimilation: occurs when minorities are integrated primary/secondary social relationships w dom group (live in same neighborhood, attend same school)
