Document Summary

Over 600 muscles that perform voluntary movement. When you shiver - your muscles are contracting - and you release heat and warms you up. Assists in movement of blood and lymph. Movement of muscles moves the blood through the body. Tendons - connective tissue that attaches bone to muscle. Ligaments - connective tissue that attaches bone to bone. Muscle (actual organ) bundles of muscle fibers (tissue) muscle fibers (cell) myofibrils sarcomere. An electrical signal travels down a neuron. Releases neurotransmitters which binds to the muscle fiber. Muscle fiber contracts when the thin filaments slide between thick filaments. A twitch is a cycle of contraction and relaxation. Every time you do a bicep curl - go up and down - that is one complete twitch. High endurance, found in body parts that are active for extended periods. Proportion of slow and fast affects athletic performance. Depends on how much of each twitch the person has.
