Skin: epidermis (thin, as thick as a paper towel, strong, dermis (fibers, connective tissue, it is flexible, sensory stuff, subcutaneous tissue (deeper, fat, insulation, allows skin to be connected to the other parts of the body) Associated glands (sweat glands to regulate body temperature) Cyanosis: turning blue, due to lack of oxygen. Jaundice: turning yellow, mostly deals with the liver. Erythema: turning red, increased blood flow in an area. Pallor: turning pale, due to decrease of oxygen. Hematoma: bruising, collection of blood flow in an area, breakdown of blood. Skin scrapings: scrape sample of skin to look under microscope. Hypersensitivity tests (rast and skin prick): allergies. Wheal: raised level of skin in response to a scratch, allergic reaction, cold weather, known as hive. Macule: discolored spot on the skin, freckle. Papule: solid, circumscribed, elevated area on the skin, pimple.
