Zoning laws can restrict business or commercial activity, high density housing, industrial activity, etc . Can apply for variance to avoid zoning laws. Local government must hold a hearing and give notice to the neighborhood. Engage in jurisprudence : study of the law. Enforce a judgement (civil or punishment (criminal) Interpret and apply the law to a case or controversy.
