Document Summary
Naturalistic- behavior being observed occurs in natural setting. Participant- researcher becomes part of group being observed. Case study- study of one individual in depth. Correlational studies- t(cid:449)o (cid:448)a(cid:396)ia(cid:271)les (cid:373)easu(cid:396)e to see if the(cid:455)"(cid:396)e (cid:396)elated. Sample: small group taken from a population to study. Population: the whole target group of individuals that are represented by the sample. A third unmeasurable variable is responsible for the relationship observed between the 2 measured variables. Independent= manipulate variable (experimental group is exposed to this) Random sampling- choosing participants randomly to participate in study. Random assignment- assigning participants to either control group or experiment group randomly. Double-blinding: when the observer or participants do not know whether they are in experimental or control group. (reduces bias) Meta-analysis: statistically combines the results of many different research studies. Cell body (soma): takes in all info from neurotransmitters and tells the neuron to fire or not (all or nothing)
