The shared, personal, and learned life experiences of a group of individuals who have a common set of values, norms, and traditions. Enculturation - when a person learns to identify with a particular culture"s thinking, ways of relating, and worldview. Acculturation - when you become accustomed to and embrace the appropriate behaviors and rules of the host culture. Extent to which decision making, authority, power, etc. , is concentrated. Range of high power distance to low power distance. High power = authority, power, decision making is concentrated amongst very few people. Low power = concentrated amongst many people. Avoiding - new technology and innovation = very slow to occur (lack of) Unwillingness to question why traditions are done. Willingness to question why a tradition is there and why purpose it serves.
