Document Summary

Sustainable is something that is able to last or continue for a long time. In ecology, sustainability is the ability to maintain a certain status or process in existing ecosystems. Sustainable development: the ability to meet the needs of society today without limiting the options for future societies to meet their needs: brundtland report. Production of sustenance for large populations is increasingly difficult because of climate change and increased levels of pollution. While the use of fossil fuels for energy, transport, and manufacturing has made it possible to support large increases in the world"s population, it has also worsened environmental conditions. According to the earth charter, we must work together to create a global society founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. The people of earth should declare responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations.
