Personality that prefers obedience to authority and those lower in status: ex: hitler, causes: strict discipline at home, catastrophisizing, right-wrong way of thinking, ethnocentricity, believing in superiority of own ethnic or cultural group. If prejudice is prominent in social society, people will take path of less resistance and simply conform to belief. Frustration and aggression: scapegoat theory anger and frustration displaced onto certain individuals or groups. Form of displaced aggression- cannot be hostile to true target of aggression so find other outlet: realistic group conflict theory, prejudice arises due to competition btw groups for scarce resources. Social identity and superiority: social identity theory, part of self-concept that comes from being part of a group.
