According to bordwell and thompson, documentary films are those films that claim to present factual. Assumption of a truth transmission of reality. Documentary= gives us some access to reality. As soon as you turn the camera on, you make decisions about how you are going to portray that reality always measures of filters. Most obvious example= faking events presenting a historical event as if viewers are in the moment. Fakery= (cid:448)e(cid:396)y easy (cid:449)ith today"s tech(cid:374)ology use filters to see if film is manipulated or real. Polemical documentary= political agenda for a film. Documentaries and truth: stylistic choices co(cid:373)plicate a docu(cid:373)e(cid:374)ta(cid:396)y"s relationship to reality: e. g. framing, editing, stylistic manipulations, these things affect what we take away from the material, variety of choices at the structural level organization/ formal level. Categorical form= putting the material into some themed grouping plucking footage from different places and categorizing it. Rhetorical form= organizing the material into a persuasive argument.
