Direct cinema proponents: maintain as unobtrusive a position as possible to capture the raw material. Want the material to speak more for itself to capture the truth: relationship of raw material and the manipulation of truth. Analysis of stories we tell: near the start of the film, sarah asks each of her primary interviewees to tell the whole story and the responses she gets are either confused or bemused. Harry says he has to go pee first. Anderst argues that these particular drama most effectively made through a chorus of voices with each of these voices given freedom and equal weight.
