THEO20251 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Gnosticism, Universal Mind
Document Summary
[agammemnon act 1 chorus 1 strophe 3]: tis zeus alone who shows the perfect way of knowledge. He hath ruled men shall learn wisdom by alicion. In visions of the night like dropping rain to send the many memories of pain. Through tears and dull comes wisdom and the unwilling soul. The unwilling soul is either forced to complain about it or learn how resilient human beings are. Because it is easier to sin than not to we are always in a state of self-jusiicaion. We are alienated from our environment, and don"t belong within it. But remember true origin and know that we will return to it. We are redeemed from creaion, not creaion is redeemed. In gnosicism, only the uncreated is good (only the divine). Only a few humans have a divine spark and can be redeemed. The doctrine of os is a doctrine that despite the universal presence of evil, human nature is essenially good.
