Document Summary

Abrasion parallel sets of grooves in the bedrock ( striations ) Scratching, grooving, and polishing of bedrock by basal debris resulting. (quarrying) removal of large blocks fractured by freeze-thaw activity beneath. Conified ice flow is associated with the movement of alpine and outlet glaciers. Channeled ice flow reults in erosional valleys: Erosional valleys may also be formed by glacial meltwater streams and filled in with glacially eroded sediment. Many erosional landforms form by freeze-thaw activity (plucking) Narrow ridges formed by plucking at the base of two alpine glaciers. Sharp peaks formed by plucking at the base of multiple alpine glaciers landforms. Glaciers deposit sediment as the move forming sorted and unsorted depositional. Loose sediment of all sizes deposited by melting ice. Deposits linear till deposits oriented parallel to glacier movement. Lateral moraines - run along the edges. Medial moraines - run down the center. Drumlins - till deposits rounded on upstream end, pointed downstream.
