PHIL 430 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Everytime
Document Summary
When you get that good feeling (moral pride) from acting, it"s right. When you get that bad type of feeling (i. e. , guilty) from acting, it"s wrong. (but what about people who do bad stuff and just don"t care and feel no guilt?) It"s based off of religion. (it won"t apply to everyone though since not everyone is religious. ) (what about the extremists who do crazy stuff in the name of their religion. ) When an action is selfless in nature, then it"s right. When society has a negative reaction to the action, then it"s wrong. When an action negatively affects society or the people as a whole then it"s wrong. When an action benefits society as a whole, then it"s right. If there"s a net good, then it"s right. If there"s a net bad, then it"s wrong. (but how do we determine the benefits and drawbacks of an action?) If your culture accepts something, then it"s right.
