Low glucose will cause your body to stimulate your brain to motivate eating. Receptors in the digestive system monitor levels of glucose and send signals to the hypothalamus in the brain. The cycle: hormones travel from organs to the brain to convey messages to increase or decrease appetite. Can change with age or cultural conditions. The body"s resting rate of energy expenditure. Body adjusts hunger and energy use to maintain set point. Can constantly release hormones to tell the body to eat -> No release the hunger hormone -> no appetite. Preferences for sweet and salty are genetic / universal.
