Bitter pill discussion: in a free, capitalist market even hospitals have become guilty of putting money over everything. Hospitals are more concerned with the money they receive, than the actual health of their patients. In rhecci"s case, he was not given treatment, even though becoming rapidly ill, until the md anderson cancer center received upfront payment: although telling the public and labeled non-profits, hospitals are in fact very profitable. Hospitals are able to claim non-profit, by not allowing any shareholders in the business. In fact, their revenue comes from more than just their world-class care . They are both the largest job providers to their community and presidents like that of md anderson are paid like those running prosperous businesses : hospitals are abusing their power as leaders in the medical world. They manipulate their patients and their insurance companies into paying large sums for medical equipment, services or medications that in reality are sometimes 400% the actual price.
