Kind of a mess; anything can irritate him. His way of thinking is very convoluted. Didn"t want to seem like a wimp so beat up gus in order to not rob blum"s. Like a bomb that"s about to explode any moment=>exploded when he killed mary. The way he killed the rat demonstrated that he was not mentally sane. Dumb=> not a good way to handle things. Emotionally immature=> fueled by perception of his race. Kind of disgusting=>all the anger built up in bigger was released when he killed her. Kind of mary and jan"s fault to for letting him drink the alcohol. Bigger: finds them annoying for trying to be their friends. Jan and mary: trying to bridge the gap but they don"t really see the reality and seem ignorant; pretending to ignore the race differences despite it being blatantly there. Economic elites(the whites) don"t want to give up the economic privileges, so communism was a threat.
