Ballad - narrative songs in strophic form, with many stanzas of text sung to the same music, each song telling a vivid story. Chevy chase - tells of fighting at war between britain and scotland. 2 leaders fight to the death then their armies chaotically fight til most are dead. The children in the woods - a married couple dies leaving a young boy and girl to their uncle who wants them dead so he can get the money. He hires 2 russians to kill them, but one of the russians killed the other to take care of the kids. He goes to get food, never comes back, and they die in the forest. The spanish lady - english capture spanish women one of them falls for english captain. They are released but spanish lady follows her love only to be told that he"s married. Ashamed, she spends the rest of her days in a nunnery.
