Transient response more complex the filter, the longer it will take to effect the sound and dull the attacks of a sound (drums, percussive, need sharp attacks, this is bad for them) Chorus simulate temporal difference and intonation difference between 2 people playing same thing delay, pitch, modulation. Phaser creates phase canceled region that moves back and forth. Delays = delay is how long before delay. Feedback is how many times it repeats after. Depth changes pitch and speed a little. Frequency shifter changes pitch without changing duration. Distortion = simulate clipping but not flat at clip, a little of it highlights harmonics. Works on amplitude of sound without changing sound at all. Runs signal through a thing to make all attacks more uniform, easier to mix. Important parameters: threshhold when amplitude goes above it, compressor kicks in, ratio how amplitude above threshold lowers in output.
