Role of pediatric nurse: direct nursing care, hands-on, talking, communication, clinical reasoning; goal to minimize psychological/physical stress, therapeutic relationship; honesty is essential for trust, nursing care guidelines on page 10; how to empower families, patient & family advocacy: Never lie to a child; if something is going to hurt you need to tell them: children can be blunt and honest, a single lie will destroy trust.
