Collection of people just are there , not really interacting, group share a purpose. All teams are groups, but not all groups are teams. Team building is evolutionary and is constantly developing and changing. 5 stages - must advance through each stage in a linear fashion - no back and forth. But in real life, things don"t work in a linear fashion. Similar to the life cycle - birth/growth/death. Emphasis on terminal phase - as group develops it already prepares for breakup. Relevant to recreation groups/teams that last for finite time. Groups shift from phase to phase - changes in relationships, dynamics, growth, development. Characterized by despair, hostility and a collective belief of life sucks . Apathetic people who perceive themselves as victims, are passively antagonistic, has a my life sucks mentality.
