Chain of volcanoes near seattle because there is a subduction zone with a bunch o under the plate that is washington. Composite volcanoes (stratavolcanoes) - build up their size through various small eruptio. Steep sides (look like mountains) and their eruptions are explosive in nature. Two major factors contribute to the explosive nature of volcanoes. Viscosity - physical property that describes the stiffness of a fluid. Honey = medium or high (comes from chunks of wax and bonding inter between proteins)
