How do we socially construct reality: an institution is a socially constructed set of positions connected as social relations that perform a meaningful social role, the family, the legal system, the university. Institutions are the primary engines for socially construction reality: organizations are often manifestations of institutions. If people a(cid:396)e so (cid:862)t(cid:396)apped(cid:863) i(cid:374) ho(cid:449) the(cid:455) thi(cid:374)k, the(cid:374) ho(cid:449) did so(cid:272)iolog(cid:455) e(cid:448)e(cid:396) happe(cid:374): sociology itself is an institution. It is a set of positions (teachers, researches, students) with social relations oriented to the role of creating knowledge. It comes about at a specific time and place - 19th century france and germany: not much sociology in agrarian empires. The origins of society cooperation or conflict: thomas hobbes said society is, a social contract in which we exchange our freedom for security, human natures is to dominate one another (by force if necessary) It is a basic need for survival that creates the social order.
