Description
The greatest orator has left it on record that he always studied his adversarys case with as great if not greater intensity than even his own Mill 44 Mill claims that peoples freedom of expressing their opinions should not be limited In a debate with a person with a dissenting opinion individuals can learn how to better defend their own opinions and learn how to justify their positions However if a person cannot refute objections from an opposing side then that person does not know enough about his position and does not understand fully what he or she stands for This idea can be easily seen in debate competitions when the speakers have to know all the facts about their position and what they are defending but also have to understand what the opponents might say in the rebuttals You can only truly persuade people to your view point when you can clearly present evidence for your argument as well as why the other side is clearly wrong T
