Witnesses said that the killers looked italian they were anarchists and agnostics court never found enough evidence to prove they were guilty, but they were convicted anyways why there was a red scare. Americans became scared that socialist ideas were becoming more popular: bolshevik revolution in russia was communist. Many russians moved to the us and the communist labor party was formed o the party had 40,000 members, the bolshevik party only had 10,000 after the war, people didn"t want involvement with foreigners. Attorney general palmer set up a special division to find radicals. Palmer obtained warrants for thousands of the communist party members. Most of the people arrested had their civil liberties violated: no due process, no attorney, abused by police none of the people arrested were guilty and palmer lost all credibility.
