Document Summary

Early humans evolved as hunters and gatherers i. ii. This lifestyle had a very different diet including high proteins, high nutrients, low carbs and low fats and sodium. We evolved with this type of diet from 200kya - 12kya, 188 thousand years. Around 12kya, the environment goes through a warming trend. Several plants and animal species die out and humans need a new food source b. There are 2 factors that drove humans to adopting agricultural practices i. The shift in climate form cold, dry and unstable to warm, wet and stable. Now climates suited growing crops and since many of our usual food sources were going extinct we needed to take advantage of this. ii. As we produced more food we could feed more people. Once we had more people, we needed to keep them alive so we had to keep producing more food.
