As we get closer to humans, a continuation of evolutionary trends happens. i. ii. iii. iv. v. Brain size increases post-orbital constriction decreases bipedalism becomes obligate teeth and face become smaller cultural adaptations become prominent. b. c. We also go from 2 or 3 genera of bipedal hominins to 1 genus with limited species. Lived 2. 4-1. 8 mya, contemporaneous with p. robustus and p. boisei. Considered first homo largely because first hominin with definitive evidence of stone tool making and use. Discovered by mary and louis leakey, shortly after they found zinj (p. boisei) Arms still long, indicating some arboreal locomotion present. Some suggest descendent of kenyanthropus, most suggest large version of h. habilis. Your decision, on test both will be called h. habilis.
