Intimacy: connection between two people that includes psychological, emotional, and behavioral bonds. Establishing it by: sharing information: breadth vs depth. Guys: do things together like video games and watch sports. Components of intimacy: closeness: feeling of union between two people that emerges when people spend time together and influence on another"s actions and beliefs. Breadth, depth, social penetration: trust: the feeling that a relationship partner will keep us safe and protect us from harm. Ex: saying i love you to your parents, its easier to say it to them because you know they love you and you love them. Saying it to friends is pretty easy too. Harder in romantic relationships, like if you are way into them and they aren"t that into you. Love is a combination of intimacy, passion and commitment intimacy: feelings of closeness, connection, tenderness. Infatuation: obsessed with someone, you arent thinking about commitment or closeness, just physical arousal.
