Who can be a modern racist: requirements. Be in a position of power and influence. Any group who has power to influence others. Everyone can demonstrate individually or as a collective: racist. Can be rational or irrational, but is often based on ignorance and fear. Can only be demonstrated by people or groups in power. On an individual level, some blacks can be racist. On a collective level, only whites can be racist. Traits of modern racists: what they tend to believe (modern racism theory) Blacks do not achieve because of their lack of effort, not institutional circumstances. Double-edged sword: some blacks who make it are an example of anyone can; therefore, those who fail do so (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause they are lazy. One black person makes it, so if a(cid:374)yo(cid:374)e else does(cid:374)(cid:859)t, it is (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause they were lazy. Do(cid:374)(cid:859)t take other thi(cid:374)gs i(cid:374)to a(cid:272)(cid:272)ou(cid:374)t like si(cid:374)gle-parents or quality (or lack thereof) education.
