Document Summary
Considers what can reasonably be done in 6-8 pages and limit to that. What exactly do you want to know? (precursor to an argument) i. Academic or nonfiction books, academic articles, primary sources. Two or more examples focusing on theme, then compare/contrast. Present one example and provide analysis based on theory or background info. Present single text and analyze in detail v. Can use section headings if necessary for any of these. Used for english, literature, other humanities (beal 46) Used for psychology, poly science, education (beal, 2008, p 46) 2-3 sentences describing what source is about, arguments, use in paper, what doesn"t include. Uses poll data to show views about abortion broken down by religion, class, participation in religion, gender, etc. Par 1 description i. ii. iii. iv. v. Should be detailed enough that you can write your paper from it.
