For most people, social dancing begins in pleasure. Social dancing serves several functions in society. The social occasions in which people dance tells a lot. Middle east people dance for circumcision. Puerto rico dance at baptisms, weddings, whenever people seek each other out for companionship, music, and dancing, are almost always part of the scene. Dance is one of the channels of communication used to pass along important social skills from one generation to the next. Young people are taught how men and women behave in their society. They can practice gender-specific behaviors and attitudes. They have an arena where people can negotiate challenges to group values posed by minorities or a new generation or behaviors imported from other societies. People of rarotonga and 13 other islands that make up the cook islands take great pleasure and seriousness to dancing. Dance on all social occasions and major holidays.
