Summary (100-150 words max): the palmer searches for guyon, who had passed out immediately after leaving mammon"s cave, and finds him when an angel calls to the the. After the angel leaves, pyrrhocles, cymochles, atin, and archimago come and, assuming guyon is dead, they loot his body, stealing his armor. Arthur comes and prepares to fight on guyon"s behalf. They fight and arthur"s sword saves arthur from an immense blow from pyrrhocles. Arthur stabs cymochles in the face and offers pyrrhocles mercy, who refuses. The canto ends with arthur cutting of the head of pyrrhocles and archimago and atin fleeing. New characters introduced: the angel that guides the palmer to guyon (represents god"s grace). Old characters returning: guyon, the palmer, cymocles, pyrrhocles, atin, archimago, arthur. Noteworthy passages (including those discussed in class): (ii. viii. 5) the angel leads the palmer to guyon.
