The history of al hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles . Those who owns the means of production vs the workers. Materialism- economic processes form the basis of society; ideas follow. He believes that our most basic needs are that we get hungry and then the most important thing in the world to us is to get food. We resolve material wants before anything else. That is our first economic issue that we are focused on. Whatever fits with this economic arrangement is what develops around it. Ideas stem from economic arrangements, they simply justify them. Infrastructure: economy, all other ideas (superstructure) are conditioned by and stem from economy. Means of production determines social class- ownership of ands, factories, business, humans (slaves) versus workers. Their goal is to pay them the least amount that they can get away with.
