Document Summary

It is not clear why some children recover from stuttering and others do not. It is strange that some conditions induce fluency. There is evidence that most people who stutter have a family history of stuttering. A single gene is responsible for transitory stuttering. Two or more genes are responsible for chronic stuttering. Evaluation: determine if a disfluency is present, find out the cause, nature, and impact, what is the likelihood that it is outside the normal range, type, frequency, and duration. Early intervention in case of early signs of stuttering is recommended.
