Strongly recommended that calves be castrated at the earliest age possible: lowers stress. Before 2-3 months or before reaches 507 lbs. Desirable to inject local anesthetic in scrotum when surgical methods are used or when spermatic cords are crushed. Cut or crush spermatic cord with emasculator removes them too. Can also use hemostat or henderson tool. Abrading the cord instead of cutting it will pride some hemorrhage control.
