Laryngospasms cause too much adduction, so correct vibration cannot happen. Tensed, strained quality: abductor type (absd) Botox-botulinum toxin: bacterial neurotoxin, toxin injected into affected muscle, usually thyroarytenoid for adsd. Temporarily weakens or paralyzes muscles to relieve hyperadduction. First 1-2 weeks after injection, may have breathy quality. Typically reinjected every 3-6 months; voice becomes more strained as time goes on. Egg has shown more periodic speech improvement during sustained and connected speech. Egg can be documented over time to show changes in vocal fold movement (dr. Lateralized vocal folds using titanium bridges; prevents hyperadduction. Major symptoms: stridor wheezing sound during breathing (noisy breathing, dyspnea subjective sensation of difficulty/discomfort during breathing. During an attack: hoarseness, strain, breathiness, aphonia. Often misdiagnosed and treated based on misdiagnosis: possible tracheotomy. Diagnosis can be certain on endoscopy during inspiration: inappropriate adduction, false vocal fold adduction, constriction of supraglottic larynx, decreased mucosal wave, may be present even if asymptomatic:
