What do you think of when you hear the world culture: clothes, food, holidays, religion. Culture must be learned it is not biologically based. Being tall is biological but having certain advantages while playing basketball is cultural. The physical objects produced by people in a particular culture, including tools, clothing, toys, works of art, shopping malls, and housing. Nonmaterial culture: the ideas of a culture, including values and beliefs, accumulated knowledge about how to u(cid:374)dersta(cid:374)d a(cid:374)d (cid:374)a(cid:448)igate the (cid:449)orld, a(cid:374)d sta(cid:374)dards or (cid:862)(cid:374)or(cid:373)s(cid:863) about appropriate beha(cid:448)ior. Nonmaterial culture exists in the world of thoughts and ideas and material culture is physically real.
