KIN 131 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Exercise Physiology, Cardiac Output, Applied Science
Document Summary
The study of acute responces and chronic adaptations to a wide range of conditions (physical activity) Basic science: specific chemical changes when exposed to stress. Applied science: looking at physiological changes to assess workload. Maximal aerobic power: the amount of oxygen that can be processed over time (v02 max); the higher the intensity, the more oxygen that is used until the v02 max is reached. V02 limits: oxygen into the lungs (blood flow from lungs to muscles) oxygen exchange between blood and muscles. Cardiac output: how much blood you can move in a certain amount of time (main human limiting factor) Pacer test: estimates an individuals v02 max without measuring (usually too low)
