Emotion is psychological state involving subjective experience, physiological response, and behavioral or expressive response. James-lange theory - emotions result from the experience of physiological reactions in the body. Facial feedback hypothesis people hold a pen or pencil in between upper lip and nose and in between jaws (fake it until you make it) Cannon-bard theory - emotions and bodily response both occur simultaneously due to the ways that parts of the brain process. Stimulus -> bodily response -> emotional label (unconcious) -> emotion. Your brain tells you what you should be then you are the emotion. You don"t realize the arousal can be brought over to other aspect. Confusion in attribution of emotions: sadness and depression. Usually works the same way (e. g. heartbeat experiment) This focuses a lot more the cognitive appraisal. There"s no right or wrong theory they all compliment each other. Secondary ones your not born knowing how to deal with them.
