Getting someone to agree with your viewpoint. Convince someone to take action on an issue with more than one point of view. A specific type of speech in which the speaker has a goal of convincing the audience to accept his or her point of view. Basic steps: choose a topic, gather evidence to support your view, use reasoning & emotional appeal to attract support, show why other viewpoint is not a good choice. Your purpose is to affirm & strengthen their opinion. To prevent any doubt on believing another point of view. Look for beliefs, value & attitudes that you and the audience may have in common. Then tranisition into showing the audience benefits of your position. Focus even more on examples, stats and testimony. Remind them of your shared beliefs and goals.
