Document Summary

Split panes: a container that displays 2 components separated by a moveable divider bar. Components can be displayed either side by side or one on top of the other. Orientation is set using constants in the jsplitpane class & can be set when container is created or explicitly later on. Horizontal_split: specifies components be displayed side to side. Vertical_split: specifies components be displayed on top of the other. Location of divider bar determines how much visible area is devoted to each component in split pane. Divider bar can be dragged across container using the mouse. As it moves, the visible space increases for one component & decreased for the other. Total space allotted for both components changes only if size of the entire split pane changes. Setonetouchexpandable method: takes a boolean parameter: size of divider bar & initial location of divider bar can be set explicitly as well.
