Document Summary

The present progressive: consists of the present tense of the verb to be & the present participle (the ing form in english). Both the spanish & english language use the present progressive. The present progressive is formed using the verb estar & a present participle: los chicos est n jugando. The boys are playing: las chicas est n cantando. This is the only time that the spanish to english translation will be in the same order; as in the words won"t be backwards in the sentences, it will read as it is written. The present participle of regular verbs is formed as follows: When the stem of an er or ir verb ends in a vowel, the present participle will end in yendo. The verbs ir, poder & venir have irregular present participles: yendo, pudiendo, viniendo. E ie (in present tense): preferir prefiriendo, sentir sintiendo. E i (in present tense): seguir siguiendo, conseguir consiguiendo, pedir pidiendo.
