The prototype for modern musical was starting in america. Black crook was most popular, opening in 1866 and ran for 474 performances. Mixing ballet, singing, and acting by same performers. Russia became ballet center of the world. Traditional tutu was developed, allowing more leg work to be seen and possible for female dancers.
